HIALEAH, FL—DECEMBER 27, 2009—Ridden by leading jockey Jose Ranilla for leading trainer Manuel Mata, Debs Rqd remained perfect from two starts and set a track record for 400 yards as he captured the $163,090 Hialeah Laddie Futurity this afternoon at Hialeah Park.

The eight-race program also featured the $148,240 Lassie Futurity and two other stakes run over a fast track under mostly sunny skies.

A Texas-bred son of Royal Quick Dash from the stakes-placed mare Debs Cartel, Debs Rqd covered the distance in 19.644 from the inside post and paid $6.20 as the betting favorite, collecting $68,497 in winning purses.

Runner-up Whathaveigottado, a Shazoom half-brother to champion Stoli, finished a half-length behind for owners Tony and Molly Doughtie. Champion trainer Paul Jones saddled with Larry Payne aboard.

Debra Gotovac's Swingin Daddyo, a gelded son of Agouti was third. Bradley Bolen trains and regular rider Cody Wainscot was in the irons.

Completing the field were Thad Matta, Little Rock Getaway, Winning Gol, Ps Stoned Excitement, Jp Cruiser, Jess Fischin and Mr Brimmerton.

Royally Bred Fillies Run 1-2 in Lassie Futurity

One race prior, Brimful, an eight-race maiden dismissed at 13-1 by the bettors, ran down Seaside to spring a surprise winning the $100,000 added Hialeah Lassie Futurity for owner Debra Gotovac.

Bred in California, the daughter of Brimmerton out of Beduinos Rusty, a full-sister to world champion Whosleavingwho, ran 400 yards in 19.915 under jockey Cody Wainscott.

Brimful, trained by Bradley Bolen and ridden by Cody Waintscott, earned $62,260 for her effort.

Seaside, a full sister to champions Wave Carver and Ocean Runaway and grade 1 winner Trisk, was a ½ length off the winner. Racing for her breeder Lucas Racing, Inc., the gray First Down Dash miss is trained by Paul Jones and was ridden by Larry Payne.

Jose Angel's Sing A New Song, the fastest qualifier, finished ¾ back in third. The Make It Anywhere filly is trained by Manuel Mata and was ridden by James Theriot.

Completing the field were Jess Wanna Fly, Jeo Speed Wagon, Golly Zee, Sheza Outlaw Woman, Cat Scratch Fefurr, Chase This Belle and Tropical Love.

Jockey Larry Payne Sweeps Undercard Stakes

Jockey Larry Payne rode the winners to both undercard stakes on Sunday afternoon.

Brad Bolen sent out Cedar Creek to victory in the $30,000 guaranteed La Nina Invitational, a consolation stakes for fillies which ran in the trials but did not qualify for the Lassie. It was the Oak Tree Special filly's fifth win from nine career starts for owner Tom Maher.

Payne also scored aboard heavy favorite Shakem Blue, trained by Paul C. Jones, in the $30,000 guaranteed El Nino Invitational for colts and geldings earlier in the day. The Jess Louisiana Blue colt races for owners Dan and Joleen Urschel.

Live American Quarter Horse racing resumes Monday at Hialeah Park and continues four days a week, Sunday through Tuesday, through February 2. Beginning this coming Saturday, January 2, a fifty-cent minimum Pick Five wager will be introduced with a guaranteed $5,000 pool each racing day.

Gates open at 1:00 and first post is 2:05 p.m.
