Upgraded, a Hotdoggin filly trained by Ricardo Martinez and ridden to victory by Francisco Ramirez, Jr., won for the third time in six career outings for owner Antonio Saavedra. Charlton Hunt saddled Mr Corona Blue for his owner/breeder Nancy McCoy

Third-place finisher Hatch A Plan, an Identity Theft filly who hit the wire two lengths behind the runner-up, wound up as the ninth qualifier for owner Teddy Abrams, Jr.

Second-race winner Come On Yall, owned by Marty and Sheila Powers, trained by Luis Villafranco, and ridden by top-tier jockey Cody Jensen, was the #3 qualifier at 17.862 seconds. The Royal Blue Chew Chew gelding was the only horse out of his heat to crack the top ten.

That race also produced a disqualification as the original second-place finisher Victorious Shake Em was dropped to sixth, and off the list of qualifiers, after stumbling badly at the start and bothering horses to his inside.

Accordingly, six qualifiers came out of the third and final trial. Race winner Color Stone, an Sc Chiseled in Stone colt ridden by Victor Olivo and trained by Manuel Mata for owner Julio Almanza-Rascon, was timed in 17.972 seconds. Whos Joe Papa, aPapa Larry gelding owned by Shirley Richardson finished second with the fifth fastest time.
